Step 3-Resumes/Keywords
| |
Creating An Effective Resume
Your job search strategy should include tools that put you in the best possible light. If you have covered the following steps, you are on your way to a more successful job search:
- You know your strengths and have identified the jobs that best fit you. (Step 1)
- You have developed an effective job search/career development plan. (Step 2)
There is a lot of great resume writing information on the Internet, so we are not going to re-invent the wheel (although we will provide you with enough great links to help you craft resumes like a professional!).
However, take a moment to think about the most memorable television commercial you've seen lately. There certainly are many other products or services like the one you're thinking about. So, what made it memorable? They probably followed these general rules for selling (yes, you're selling, too):
- Know who your prospect is
- Know what your prospect wants/needs
- Write to the wants/needs of your prospect
- Keep the prospect engaged (reading)
- Keep your message simple
- Come up with a powerful call to action (contact me for an interview!)
Keep these in mind while creating your resume and add an effective strategy to get your qualifications into the hand, and you are bound to get much better results in your job search.
